La Fête des Fous is an experimental documentary exploring tattooing as a process-led ritual and philosophy. The project combines portraiture, performance and virtual production workflows to examine how embodied practices can be represented through immersive visual environments.
The film is being developed through a series of research-led tests using LED volume techniques and Unreal Engine, treating the virtual space not as background scenery but as an active extension of the subjects physical gesture and presence.
The project operates as a testbed for Fort Dee’s wider research into virtual production as a tool for place-based and process-driven storytelling. Experiments conducted during development inform ongoing enquiries into gesture-driven visuals, real-time environments and the use of immersive technologies within documentary practice.
